Pregnancy

Acupuncture

Pregnancy is an exciting time in a woman’s life, and is full of many emotional and physical changes. Acupuncture can help a woman stay healthy and ease her way through all of these changes. Having regular acupuncture throughout pregnancy treatments will help to promote the healthiest pregnancy possible and, ultimately, the uncomplicated delivery of a full term baby.

Acupuncture can help with morning sickness, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, constipation, hemorrhoids, anxiety, heartburn, pelvic pain, low back pain, carpal tunnel, hypertension, edema, leg cramps, and sciatica.

Later in pregnancy, acupuncture may be used to resolve breech presentation, induce labor for post due date, smooth the labor process and help reduce labor pain.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is extremely important for the comfort of the mother, health of the developing fetus and for safer, faster and more comfortable labor. Dr. Lauren is trained and certified in Webster technique. This technique is designed specifically for pregnant mothers. It utilizes low-force techniques that better position the pelvis and ease tension in the abdomen and pelvic girdle. This technique has been identified by some as the “breech turning maneuver.” While that term is a misnomer, it is true that easing the tension and better positioning of the pelvis allows the fetus more room to move into better position and often this is the result.

While Dr. Lauren focuses on the big picture of a safe, healthy pregnancy and delivery, often mothers seek chiropractic care for low back pain, sciatic pain, pubic pain, numbness and tingling, morning sickness, carpel tunnel and headaches, to name a few.

As always, in addition to bodywork, Dr. Lauren keeps the patient’s entire health in full view, examining the patient for chemical imbalances that may be caused by food and other sources. Dr. Lauren also provides the best supplements on the market to her patients in order to sustain healthy pregnancy. The following supplements are recommended during pregnancy and while trying to conceive.

  • Basic Prenatal
  • DHA
  • Probiotic
  • Vitamin D Liquid

*In some cases more supplementation may be recommended. This would typically be if the patient had some concurrent illness or symptoms.
